Beyond Conversations About Race Virtual Institute

Beyond Conversations About Race Virtual Institute
We find it difficult to talk about race. We find it even more difficult to develop a plan to eliminate the inequities rampant within our schools and communities. Join our education thought leaders as they tackle the issues of racism, cultural incompetence, and complacency.
Tolerance alone is a very low bar—let’s aim higher. Use this powerful event as a springboard for teachers, administrators, and community members to enter into respectful dialogue that creates a call to action and a plan to do better.
Participants will:
- Evaluate the failures of racial tolerance
- Analyze the impact of well-intentioned labels on students
- Motivate colleagues to transform feelings into actions
- Apply the evidence on racial justice to specific actions in schools
- Gain ideas for ensuring more educators of color are in our schools
- Develop a positive and nondefensive response to bias
- Identify tactics and tools for advocacy
- Apply awareness of bias to real-world situations with students and colleagues
- Understand the distinction between fault and responsibility
- Acquire the best practices in engaging parents, students, and community members
This event will be recorded and recorded sessions will be available for registrants to view beginning March 5th, 2021. Attendees will have 60 days of unlimited access to view all sessions.
