Jaretha Jordan

Jaretha Jordan, EdD, is the chief academic officer for Duncanville Independent School District in Texas. With more than 20 years in education, she brings a unique blend of experiences that include serving as a curriculum director, principal supervisor, professional development facilitator, administrator (elementary and secondary), and teacher in diverse school settings. She was named the 2004–2005 Teacher of the Year at Amber Terrace Intermediate School in Texas.

Dr. Jordan’s life’s work is to equip and empower teachers, leaders, and districts with the tools to ensure all students learn at high levels. Her background in both district-level leadership and the principalship provides a rich combination of experience in promoting systems thinking, shared ownership, and an “all in” mentality via collaborative teams, leading by design, and real-time instructional decision making.

She specializes in building teams who understand the power of common formative assessments to increase learning for all, coaching leadership through the professional-learning-for-all culture, using assessment to improve learning outcomes, and creating aligned instructional frameworks to guarantee high levels of learning for every student. During her tenure as principal supervisor, she was responsible for implementing and monitoring the PLC at WorkⓇ process as the model for school and district improvement. Two schools—one elementary and one early childhood—were recognized as Model PLC at Work Schools.

Dr. Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Northwood University, a master’s in education at the University of North Texas, and a doctorate in education at Tarleton State University.
