Multiplication Fluency: Building Reasoning Skills through the Fact Tactics Fluency Program Virtual Workshop

Teach students more than fact recall. Help them learn to make sense of multiplication and prepare for algebra.
How can students achieve an understanding of multiplication that allows them to go beyond simple recall to explain their thinking? Author and mathematics education professor Juli Dixon introduces a program that teachers can seamlessly integrate into existing mathematics instruction. Learn six tactics to help you shift from an anxiety-producing, rote-memorization approach to one that helps students make sense of multiplication and prepare for algebra. This virtual workshop offered in two half-day sessions will help classroom teachers, resource teachers, interventionists, coaches, administrators, tutors, and parents of students in grades 3–6.
Participants will:
- Understand the six tactics for completing the Fact Tactics Fluency Program.
- Discover how to seamlessly integrate the 20-week program into mathematics instruction including resources, and assessments to implement the program.
- Give students the tools they need to transcend recall of basic facts and gain procedural fluency so they can explain and justify their thinking.
- Explore applications of the properties of operations to support students in achieving procedural fluency with multiplication and algebra readiness.

Participation Information
You will receive a certificate of participation 6 weeks after the event concludes. Please check with your state department of education for CEU availability.
Virtual Events Shipping
All paid orders received up to two weeks prior to event start date, and sent with complete attendee shipping information, will receive their supplies before the event. Orders placed after this two-week time frame will not receive materials before the start of the event. Substitutions made after shipments have been sent are the responsibility of the original attendee.
