Andrea Steffen is the principal of Shell Lake Middle/High School in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and has previously served as a director of curriculum and instruction, district assessment coordinator, summer program coordinator, and gifted and talented coordinator. She has also served as a principal, reading specialist, instructional coach, Title I teacher, multi-categorical special education teacher, and general education teacher.

As a principal of the Altoona Intermediate School in Altoona, Wisconsin, Andrea transformed the school from needing improvement to significantly exceeding expectations in overall achievement with excellence in closing achievement gaps. The intermediate school was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award and has been honored with awards of distinction for both academic and behavior equitable multilevel systems of support through the Wisconsin RtI Center. For her excellence in leadership, Andrea was awarded the state’s Herb Kohl Leadership Award.

Andrea has earned three bachelor's degrees in reading, emotional behavioral disabilities, and specific learning disabilities, and she holds three master’s degrees covering administration, instruction, and advanced reading.
