Reflect and refresh with summer reading and learning
Education news, tips, & resources for June
June 2021 | Learning and Leading Professional Learning News: Summer Reading and Learning
Welcome to the June 2021 edition of Learning and Leading.

For most educators in Canada, June means the end of another school year and planning those year-end celebrations and graduations as students move on to the next grade level or new challenges in post-secondary education or work. This June, unfortunately, has many of the same characteristics as last June. Students, parents, caregivers, and school staff are ready for a break. The 2020–21 school year has been another exhausting one, but there is hope that we will move to a post-pandemic life by September.

In this month's newsletter, we are focusing on summer reading and learning. As we head into a much-needed summer break, now is the opportunity to reflect on this past year and plan for a great start in September. Please enjoy our suggestions for good summer reads and opportunities to refresh and renew your practice for next school year. We wish you a relaxing and restful summer break and a fantastic 2021–22 school year to come!

Doable Differentiation: Is Every Student "Shakespeare-Ready"? By Jane A. G. Kise
When I was young enough to still need a babysitter, my parents gave me a choice. I could go with them to a live production of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" and sit in the balcony with one of my big brothers (I have four). Or, they'd find a babysitter…
