Chad Lang

Dr. Chad Lang is the director of high school teaching and learning at the Linn-Mar Community School District in Iowa. At Linn-Mar, he oversees professional learning and curriculum development for more than 40 collaborative teams and 2,200 students, including the district’s work-based, competency-based Venture Academics program and its alternative high school. With the support of a guiding coalition, Chad utilizes the PLC at Work® process to advance high levels of learning for all students, including through standards-referenced grading and reporting.

Prior to joining Linn-Mar, Chad served as the assistant superintendent of school improvement at Glenwood Community School District in Iowa. Under his leadership, Glenwood CSD earned National Model PLC at Work District status and West Elementary received a National Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education. With two decades of experience as a teacher, administrator, and district leader, he brings extensive expertise in curriculum development, grading reform, and Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work. Chad has been recognized as the Missouri Athletic Administrator of the Year (2018) and the Iowa Central Office Administrator of the Year (2023). He is the coauthor of A Parents’ Guide to Grading and Reporting: Being Clear About What Matters with Matt Townsley, and his writing has appeared in Phi Delta Kappan and ASCD’s Educational Leadership.

He holds a bachelor’s in social science education from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s in secondary school administration from William Woods University, and an EdD in policy analysis and program evaluation from the University of Missouri–Columbia. Chad also serves as an adjunct professor in schools of education at the University of Nebraska–Omaha, Buena Vista University, and the University of Northern Iowa.
