Geoffrey Fenelus

Geoffrey Fenelus is the national director of partnership development at Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA). In this role, Geoff is responsible for expanding PLA’s reach and impact by identifying and securing new school partners. Prior to this, Geoff was the founder and executive director of Promise Prep in Indianapolis. He launched Promise Prep and guided the school through a merger with PLA so it could benefit from being part of a network of schools.

Geoff has worked as a teacher, dean, assistant principal, turnaround principal, founder, and executive director in traditional, independent, and charter schools. Geoff was an assistant principal in New York at one of the highest-performing schools in the state. He also led a turnaround effort at a neighborhood charter school while in Brooklyn.

Geoff is a Solution Tree Transforming School Culture associate, Harwood Institute researcher, UnboundED facilitator, and proud Surge Institute alum. He is a graduate of Relay Graduate School of Education’s National Principal Academy Fellowship and the College of St. Rose’s administrator certification program, and he holds a degree in teaching urban adolescents with disabilities from the New York State Department of Education, an MS in education from Long Island University, and a BA in economics from Wheaton College. Geoff is currently on the board of two Indianapolis nonprofit organizations: Nine13sports and CAFÉ.

In his spare time, Geoff enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid cyclist, reader, and college basketball enthusiast.
