Justin Holmquest

Justin Holmquest is currently serving in his seventh year as principal of New Prairie Middle School (NPMS) in New Carlisle, Indiana. Prior to NPMS, he was an assistant principal for four years at the high school level and six years as a secondary language arts teacher and coach. During his time at NPMS, the school implemented professional learning communities (PLCs), which created a culture of collaboration, collective efficacy, and a focus on student learning. The implementation of PLCs has led to increased student achievement and professional growth for the staff of NPMS. Justin also serves as a member of his local community school board, where he resides with his wife and three sons.

In July 2024, NPMS was recognized as a Solution Tree Model PLC at Work® school for their sustained success in increasing student achievement and commitment to the PLC at Work process. NPMS was also recognized by the Indiana Department of Education with the Gold Star for School Counseling (2024), a Purple Star School (2023), and a Project Adam Heart Safe School (2023). In November of 2023, Justin was recognized by his peers as the Indiana Association of School Principals District 2 Middle School Principal of the Year.

Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in English/language arts from Purdue University. He also earned a master’s degree in education, an educational leadership certification from Indiana Wesleyan University, and an educational specialist degree from Indiana State University.
