Lisa A. Brooks

Lisa A. Brooks, EdD, is a senior lecturer in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. Her areas of expertise include mathematics education, science education, coaching, leadership, curriculum development, and classroom management. A former elementary and middle school teacher, Dr. Brooks has been an educator since 1992. She has served as an internship supervisor, a new-teacher mentor, and a mathematics coach.

Dr. Brooks has written numerous articles for state, national, and international journals and has presented at state, national, and international conferences for educators, school leaders, district leaders, and teacher educators. She coauthored Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching the Small Group, which was selected as a 2020 Teachers’ Choice Award winner for professional development. She also coauthored Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Grades K–2.

Dr. Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in mathematics and science education, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a focus on mathematics education. She is professionally certified in elementary education, primary education, and English for speakers of other languages.
