Michelle Marrillia

Michelle Marrillia, an educator since 1996, has a diverse background as a classroom teacher, school administrator, educational presenter, and instructional coach. She has a passion for training coaches in professional learning communities (PLC), developing teacher leaders, implementing response to intervention systems (RTI), and creating doable coaching programs.

As an instructional coach, staff developer, and professional learning communities coordinator at Fern Creek High School in Louisville, Kentucky, Michelle was instrumental in moving the school from persistently low-achieving in 2010 to proficient in 2015. In 2017, Fern Creek won Solution Tree’s prestigious DuFour Award. Created in honor of PLC architect Richard DuFour, the award credits high-performing schools that demonstrate exceptional levels of student achievement. In 2016, Fern Creek received the School Innovation and Change Award through the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative.

Michelle presents at state and national events to support the work of instructional coaches, classroom teachers, administrators, and district leaders. She is also a contributing author to Charting the Course for Leaders: Lessons from Priority Schools in a PLC at Work®.
