Paul Buckley

Paul Buckley, a consultant, has more than 30 years of experience in education. He has led learning in remote schools in Central Australia and in international schools in Shanghai, Beijing, Colombo, and Jakarta.

After 10 years leading elementary and middle schools in remote Central Australian Indigenous Homeland Schools, he moved to China and worked in Shanghai and Beijing. In Beijing, Paul led his school’s implementation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and continued the development of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education Programme. As deputy head of school in Colombo, Paul had direct oversight of the elementary, middle, and high school divisions with a specific focus on the International Baccalaureate Primary and Middle Years Programmes. In 2006, Paul became principal of Pattimura Elementary at Jakarta Intercultural School.

Due to the significant improvements in student outcomes and the collaborative culture at Pattimura, Paul was recognized as the 2012 Distinguished Principal of the Year by the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and in 2015 Pattimura was recognized as a model professional learning community.

Paul earned a bachelor’s and master’s in educational administration from Charles Darwin University, and a Diploma of Teaching from Victoria College, Melbourne. He also holds a Certificate of International School Leadership.
