Richard Medina

Richard Medina is a special education administrator for the Exceptional Learners Collaborative, which serves four school districts in Lake County, Illinois: Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125, Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96, Lincolnshire–Prairie View School District 103, and Fox Lake School District 114.

Richard has experience as a classroom teacher, therapeutic day school administrator, and public school district-level special education administrator. His work focuses on providing individualized, high-quality services and support to a variety of special education students, including early childhood through transition, ages 3 through 22. His work has included writing quality education plans, successfully reintegrating students into less restrictive environments, and maintaining state compliance in special education departments.

Richard has presented at conferences for national organizations including the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (DADD). He is a member of CEC, DADD, and the Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE). Richard earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Illinois State University, as well as a master's degree in reading and an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from National Louis University.
