Sandra Hawtrey

Sandra Hawtrey is a consultant specializing in new teacher training, instructional strategies, and K–6 Common Core math implementation. She has been a special education teacher, elementary school teacher, and instructional coach for over 25 years.

Sandra was instrumental in providing mathematics curriculum training to K–6 teachers in the Lompoc Unified School District based on California state standards and Common Core State Standards. Her work has included monthly professional development focusing on implementation of the content standards, mathematical practice standards, and assessment.

She is one of two consultants responsible for observing, evaluating, and mentoring all K–12 teachers new to the Lompoc Unified School District. In this capacity, Sandra has worked collaboratively with school principals and other district administrators.

Sandra has served on the Curriculum Advisory Board for Houghton Mifflin Mathematics and has been a member of the UC Santa Barbara Math Leadership Cadre. She traveled with Dr. James Barta, associate professor in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Utah State University, as part of a team of educators supporting students and teachers in a remote village in Guatemala.

Sandra earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and multiple subject and learning specialist credentials from California Lutheran State University.
