Peter Marshall

Peter Marshall recently retired from the Halton District School Board and joined Solution Tree as an Assessment Center associate. With more than 35 years of experience as an educator, Peter was a school administrator and in a central office position as the principal for leadership and staff development for 22 years, after starting as a classroom teacher. In addition to assessment and evaluation, Peter specializes in educational leadership, developing school culture, and effective staff learning.

Peter’s vision, leadership, and dedication led to him being recognized as one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals (The Learning Partnership) in 2018. As principal for Boyne Public School, Peter led the development of one of Halton’s newest schools. He supported the staff, students, and families in growing a school from the middle of an empty field into a community that is recognized for its innovation and its commitment to student achievement and well-being. It also provided a neighborhood hub for what is considered the fastest-growing area in Canada: Milton, Ontario. This success was due to the fostering of an environment that celebrated the cultural diversity of the large student population.

In his system role, Peter worked with both corporate and academic components of the organization. Peter was responsible for developing and implementing programs for onboarding new staff, mentoring and coaching new administrators and staff, and facilitating training programs for schools and departments across the district.

A graduate of the University of Toronto in physical and health education, Peter received his bachelor’s degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. He earned his master’s degree in curriculum studies/assessment and evaluation from Brock University.
