Denise Houghton

Denise Houghton has more than 27 years of experience in education and 18 years in leading teams of educators to ensure students are learning at high levels. She has served as a teacher, instructional facilitator, and education specialist working at elementary, intermediate, and high school levels. Denise has experience in leading instructional teams around proven practices of professional learning communities. She has been an Arkansas RISE trainer, National LETRS trainer, and is a certified K–8 reading specialist. She has helped teams establish, define, and monitor student performance as it relates to a guaranteed curriculum.

Further, Denise served as an instructional coach at Park Avenue Elementary which was identified as a Model PLC at Work® school. She currently serves as a literacy/dyslexia specialist for a regional education cooperative in Arkansas.

Denise graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor of science degree in education and received her reading specialist certification from the University of Arkansas. She has served on many state and local committees in an effort to ensure all students have access to quality literacy instruction. Denise believes that all students can learn at high levels and is passionate about working together as a team to support student success.
