Kristina Medlin

Kristina Medlin is a professional learning community (PLC) trainer in the Organizational Improvement and Professional Learning Department at the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona, which was recognized as a Model PLC at Work® district in May 2021. She has been an educator for over 13 years, previously serving as an instructional coach, reading interventionist, TAP mentor teacher, Title 1 coordinator, and elementary teacher.

As a PLC trainer, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape by coaching principals, school leaders, collaborative teams, and individual teachers in the PLC process so they can confidently lead others to build strong teams that promise high levels of learning for all students. She guides them in building capacity on their campuses by developing effective guiding coalitions, site intervention teams, and collaborative team facilitators.

Before her PLC trainer role, Kristina served as an instructional coach and helped lead a high-poverty school from a C to an A rating. The school was recognized as a Model PLC at Work school as well as an A+ School of Excellence and was named an Arizona Title 1 Exemplary Program. Kristina’s earlier experiences included roles as a K–6 reading interventionist, English language development, elementary teacher, TAP mentor teacher, and Title I coordinator. Kristina’s diverse experience in education and her impact as a PLC trainer make her an invaluable asset to any educational team, inspiring a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in schools.

Kristina holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Chico State University.
