Laurie Warner

As an educator for 27 years, Laurie Warner’s experience has been teacher focused. As a highly qualified teacher in both general education and special education, her passion for working collaboratively with teachers to embrace best practices and improve student growth has been fully realized in her role as a Professional Learning Communities at Work® trainer. In May 2021, her district received the distinction of being an international model professional learning community district. As a district PLC trainer, Laurie designs and provides training on all aspects of the PLC and RTI at Work ™ process.

Laurie is first and foremost a teacher--a role in which she takes great pride. She has received many accolades in her career, including DVUSD teacher of the year in 2017. Prior to becoming a coach, Laurie gained extensive experience with PLCs and collaborative teams in her own grade level, multi-school, and vertical collaborative teams. Her role as a facilitator drove her passion to seek opportunities to work with adult learners utilizing the PLC process.

In 2020, Laurie established Beyond the Gray Area LLC, to use the skills she gained as a PLC trainer to widen her impact on those young adults who have struggled after their high school experience. Her blog, A Day in the Life, focuses on her personal experience having a child in the “gray area.”

Laurie earned both her bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing science and her master’s degree in special education from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
