Marsha Jones

Marsha Jones, EdD, is an executive director of curriculum and instruction at Pasadena Independent School District near Houston, Texas. With more than 30 years of experience in education, she has served as an elementary and junior high teacher, elementary assistant principal, elementary and middle school principal, and a district-level administrator.

As a campus and district leader, Marsha was instrumental in a shift that led Pasadena Independent School District to become a Model Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work® school district. The process provided training for thousands of educators through in-district, customized PLC teacher-leader collaborative sessions each year, as well as coordinated district trips to PLC and response to intervention (RTI) conferences.

To continue building stakeholder capacity, she organized and facilitated yearly Solution Tree events for teachers and administrators. In addition, she developed a newsletter for all employees, PLC Solutions: When All Means ALL, to facilitate common vocabulary and to continue to develop a shared understanding of PLC concepts for all employees in the district. Marsha has participated in two Solution Tree webinars: “Unchartered Waters: How a PLC at Work Helped Us Navigate Uncertainty” (February 2021) and “A Streaming Success Story” (September 2019).

Marsha was named an Unsung Hero of Education at the Parents for Public Schools of Houston’s Guiding Star Awards (2014); Pasadena ISD Elementary/Middle School Principal of the Year (2011); Semi-finalist for HEB Principal Education Excellence Award (2009); Pasadena ISD “Together We Can” Award Recipient (2006); Region IV Texas Council of Women School Executives’ Bravo Award for Innovation in Leadership (2005); KHOU Local 2 Houston’s Sunshine Award (2005).

Marsha holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and a doctorate in educational leadership, all from the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
