Cara Dudley

Cara Dudley, EdD, currently serves as the director of curriculum and instruction in east Texas. With over 20 years of experience working in rural and high-poverty schools, over 10 of those years were devoted to curriculum, assessment, and accountability. Her work focuses on curriculum and assessment through alignment, the development of common and formative assessments, and standards-based grading.

Dr. Dudley sat on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness committee for secondary English language arts and reading (ELAR) and led her district through the implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). Dr. Dudley enjoys helping teachers understand data-driven instruction and the importance of monitoring assessment results to ensure student growth.

Having received the University of West Alabama’s Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2023, Dr. Dudley’s work has been featured in the Alabama Journal of Educational Leadership and in Texas Monthly. She is a member of the Texas Statewide Network of Assessment Professionals (TSNAP).

Dr. Dudley holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural development and a master’s degree in educational psychology both from Texas A&M University. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of West Alabama. Along with being a certified teacher, she is a certified educational diagnostician, principal, and superintendent.
