Cecilia Bonertz

Cecilia Bonertz is the academic dean at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School, a Model PLC at Work® school in Poudre School District, Fort Collins, Colorado. As a member of the administrative team, her focus is on providing professional development related to the four guiding questions, leading her school to sustained, substantive school improvement. Cecilia started her journey in education as an elementary school teacher, but most of her 20 years in education have been spent serving at the middle school level.

During her 15 years at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School, Cecilia has served as a classroom math teacher, a grade level leader, a department leader, and an academic dean. She was a key contributor in Kinard’s designation as a Model PLC at Work school as well as its national recognition as a US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School. Her passions include supporting students and teachers as they grow as learners and leaders.

Cecilia has been recognized for her collaborative efforts and academic results with the Poudre School District “PSD Celebrates, Administrator/Professional of the Year Award” and the Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School “Brad Blank Leadership Award.” Cecilia has also contributed at the district level and has been heavily involved in the execution of Standards Based Grading and with strategic planning related to implementation of an equitable system of strategies and supports for students who are off track to graduate.

Cecilia earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, a master’s degree in elementary education, and she completed her principal licensure program at Colorado State University.
