Colby Lynch

Colby Lynch has been blessed to spend the past 15 years living out his dream of being a secondary educator. He is currently the assistant principal of Douglas High School in Wyoming, where his specialties include leading student academics and facilitating staff collaboration. Throughout his career, Colby has served as a high school principal, junior high assistant principal/activities director, and high school English teacher.

During his time as principal of Tongue River High School, Colby led the implementation of Professional Learning Communities, singleton staff collaboration, and data-driven intervention and enrichment for students. Colby and his staff prioritized student achievement and quickly improved from one of the lowest performing high schools in Wyoming to a consistent, top-ten academic performer (schooldigger.com). From 2021 to 2024, TRHS freshmen and sophomore students significantly surpassed the state average on all standardized WYTOPP tests in language arts, math, and science. Junior students also improved class ACT composite average scores and climbed in 2A high school rankings to fifth place in 2021, fourth place in 2022, and second place in 2023. In 2023, TRHS was awarded Model PLC at Work® status. In 2024, TRHS ranked third on the Niche.com list of best public high school teachers in Wyoming.

Colby is a three-time graduate of the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in communication, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and a certificate in school district superintendency. His wife, Shae, is also an educator, and together they have one young son named Tate. Colby is passionate about school culture, academic achievement, staff collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and student interventions and enrichments.
