Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch

Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch is a renowned, influential speaker who carries a powerful message of what it takes to be an effective leader in today’s global marketplace. Since 1996, she has dedicated her life to empowering a new generation of leaders, working with over one million children and their parents. Consuelo has spoken at hundreds of schools, colleges, universities, corporations, and government institutions both in the United States and abroad.

Born and raised along the border in a small barrio in Laredo, Texas, Consuelo overcame poverty, discrimination, and illiteracy to become a successful community leader. The values Consuelo learned during childhood were reinforced throughout her career in the US military, where she broke barriers and set records to become the highest-ranking Hispanic woman in the Combat Support Field of the Army. In 1996, she was elected to assume a command post (from 26,000 candidates), which would have put her on track for the rank of general officer. She respectfully declined the honor and retired as a 22-year veteran of the Army.

Consuelo has been profiled on CNN’s Latino in America, Univision’s Don Francisco Presenta, the Lifetime Network, National Public Radio, the syndicated television program Hispanics Today, and American Latino Television’s Latination. She has also been featured in Hispanic Business magazine (100 Most Influential Hispanics in America), O Magazine, LatinaStyle, Vanidades, and Glamour.

She is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University.
