James Luttrell

James Luttrell has more than 20 years of experience in education—from preschool to high school and from rural to urban. He specializes in data analysis protocols, improving school culture, and implementing professional learning communities (PLC) processes.

Currently serving as a facilitator at Fern Creek High School, James is a 2017 DuFour Award winner. He has also held the positions of elementary school principal, middle school assistant principal, instructional coach, and high school teacher. James is dedicated to helping educators become the best version of themselves, and he believes this goal can be accomplished through sessions based on best practices and collaboration centered around PLC’s three main ideas.

James helped lead Custer Elementary School in Custer, Kentucky, from the bottom 25th percentile to one of the top 10 schools in the state. This was accomplished largely through a focus on data analysis, school culture, and the four essential PLC questions.

Along with a master’s degree in education from the University of Kentucky, James received his principal certificate from Western Kentucky University and his superintendency certificate from the University of the Cumberlands.
