Bill Hall

Bill Hall is the former director of educational leadership and professional development for Brevard (Florida) Public Schools and past president of the Florida Association for Staff Development (FASD). He was a member of the Professional Learning Communities at Work™ Leaders’ Academy led by Richard DuFour, Rebecca DuFour, and Robert Eaker. With experience at the district, state, and national levels, Bill offers a unique perspective of the role PLCs can play in the areas of leadership development, leadership sustainability, and succession planning in public education.

Under Bill’s leadership at the district level, 27 of Brevard’s 85 schools (32 percent) were recognized as National Model Schools of PLCs at Work™ on allthingsplc.info. This achievement was the result of providing ongoing professional learning, support, and resources for teacher leaders, administrators, and district staff.

For two consecutive years, Bill received the Seiji Horiuchi Memorial Award from the US Jaycees in recognition of his contribution to the area of individual development while serving as Florida’s state chairman. He was recognized as the principal of a Florida Merit School and named Teacher of the Year at Sherwood Elementary School. He also received the key to the city of Satellite Beach, Florida, for his achievements while serving as principal of Surfside Elementary School. He is a member of the /I/D/E/A/ Academy of Fellows.

Bill has written articles on professional development and leadership development for FASD, as well as the Jaycees publications Future Magazine and Sunshine Magazine. He has also had articles published in national journals on leadership development, succession planning, and PLCs.

Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Erskine College (South Carolina) and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Nova Southeastern University (Florida). In addition, he is certified in school principalship and elementary education.
