Edward C. Nolan
Edward C. Nolan is currently an assistant professor of education at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, teaching courses to understand the middle level learner; mathematics methods courses for early childhood, middle level, and secondary mathematics; and supporting field placements in education across the grades.

Edward C. Nolan is currently an assistant professor of education at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, teaching courses to understand the middle level learner; mathematics methods courses for early childhood, middle level, and secondary mathematics; and supporting field placements in education across the grades. He has 19 years of classroom teaching experience in both middle and high schools and was department chair for 15 years. He was also the director of mathematics, PreK to grade 12, for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland for five years. He was also a master teacher in the Towson University UTeach program for four years. His research interests lie in supporting pre-service and in-service teachers to make sense of mathematics for teaching and use questions effectively.
He has been published in state and national journals, and he has presented at state and national conferences, including webinars for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and TODOS mathematics organization.
Edward won the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2005. An active member of the NCTM, he is a former president and executive director of the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and former president of the Maryland Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.
Edward received his doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction – Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned a master's degree in educational administration from Western Maryland (now McDaniel) College.
