Jack Baldermann

Jack Baldermann has been a passionate educational leader for over 30 years. Jack was named the Illinois Principal of the Year in 2017 and was one of three finalists for National Principal of the Year in 2018. In 2020, Jack led his team as principal of Westmont High School (IL) to win the DuFour Award as the best professional learning community in the country. In 2021, Jack and his team at Westmont won the National Blue Ribbon Award; Westmont is the most diverse regular high school in Illinois to win this honor in the last 25 years.

Jack’s experience includes leading several high-poverty urban schools to significant success. He has also supported eight different priority or high-poverty schools to become Model PLC at Work® schools.

He has led Westmont High School to become one of the most-improved and top-performing schools in the United States, with a 99 percent graduation rate, double-digit increases in state test scores, exceptional culture and climate results, one of the most-improved Advanced Placement programs in the country, the highest rating (Exemplary) from the Illinois State Board of Education, and the greatest improvement of any regular high school in three different national rankings.

Jack has worked with school districts in 47 states and Canada while continuing his duties as a full-time administrator. He also helped lead Riverside Brookfield High School to excellent student-achievement success and Model PLC at Work status, and he was one of the first principals in the country to implement PLC concepts at Carl Sandburg High School in 1996.
