Kevin Ryan

Kevin Ryan, EdD, is the assistant superintendent for teaching and learning at North Shore School District 112 in Illinois. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student growth and success. His work focuses on implementing professional learning communities, Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and the C3 Social Studies Standards. He works with teachers on the development of aligned standards and assessment practices to help them determine how to approach instruction.

Dr. Ryan has been an instructional leader for many years, most recently serving as the director of 21st century learning, curriculum, and instruction with Kildeer Countryside District 96. He spent five years in the curriculum role after being promoted from the technology coordinator position. He also served as an assistant principal in District 96 and as an assistant principal and the dean of students in Cary District 26. He began his career at Cary Junior High School as a US history teacher.

Dr. Ryan was a 2015–2016 recipient of the Illinois Those Who Excel Award and was recognized as a leader of an Apple Distinguished District while at Kildeer Countryside School District 96. He has been a guest on Education Talk Radio, and his work has been published in books and magazines, including Tech & Learning.

Dr. Ryan received his EdD from Illinois State University in educational leadership. He received his master’s degree in educational leadership from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College in business administration.
