She has more than twenty-three years’ experience as an elementary teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, Title 1 program coordinator, campus administrator, director of elementary literacy, and director of instructional design.

Paula Maeker

Paula Maeker is an educator, consultant, and advocate for learner-centered education. She has more than twenty-three years’ experience as an elementary teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, Title 1 program coordinator, campus administrator, director of elementary literacy, and director of instructional design. Paula most recently served as director of instructional design for Tomball ISD in northwest Houston, Texas

Much of Paula’s career has been spent serving high-needs campuses as a literacy teacher and instructional coach. She specializes in building collaborative teams, coaching leadership through the professional-learning-for-all culture, using assessment to inform teaching practices, and creating effective instructional frameworks to guarantee high levels of learning for every student.

Paula has been named Teacher of the Year and Professional of the Year, in addition to many other local honors and awards, including HEB Texas Excellence in Education Award nominee. She also served at a highly collaborative school that earned a National Model PLC School designation and was named both a state and national School of Character.

She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and received her master of education in school administration from Lamar University. She holds Texas Principal, Master Reading Teacher PK–12, Generalist EC-4, and ESL K–12 teaching certifications.
