Paula Maeker is an educator, consultant, and advocate for learner-centered education. She has more than seventeen years’ experience as an elementary teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, program coordinator, and administrator.
Much of Paula’s career has been spent serving urban, high-needs campuses to ensure high levels of learning for all. She specializes in building collaborative teams, using data to inform teaching practices, and creating instructional frameworks that meet the needs of diverse learners.
Paula has been named Teacher of the Year and Professional of the Year, in addition to many other local honors and awards, including KPRC Teacher of the Month and HEB Texas Excellence in Education Award nominee. She also served at a highly collaborative school that earned a National Model PLC School designation and was named both a state and national School of Character. Paula is an avid volunteer with the organization Destination Imagination: Service Learning/Project Outreach, which encourages students from around the world to seek out opportunities to be in service of others by solving real-world challenges that affect their communities.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and received her master of education in school administration from Lamar University. She holds Texas Principal, Master Reading Teacher PK–12, Generalist EC-4, and ESL K–12 teaching certifications.
