Solution Tree to host PLC at Work® panel discussion at Learning Forward’s Annual Conference in Dallas

Bloomington, Ind. (December 3, 2018)—Solution Tree, a premier educational publisher and professional development provider, has announced that it will be hosting a one-hour panel discussion at 2:15 p.m., Dec. 4, at the annual Learning Forward educational conference in Dallas, Texas. Featured panelists include Tina Smith from the Arkansas Department of Education; Mandi Dunlap, principal of Eastside Elementary School in Greenbrier, Ark.; and Andy Pennington, principal of Frank Mitchell Intermediate School in Vilonia, Ark.

The panelists are all part of a groundbreaking ongoing professional development initiative between Solution Tree and the Arkansas Department of Education. Started in 2017, the program develops and expands the Professional Learning Communities at Work® process across Arkansas. ADE selected schools and districts to serve as working laboratories for the professional learning community process, conducting action research and sharing best practices with other schools throughout the state. As part of the program, schools receive up to 50 days of training, coaching and support to build and sustain a strong culture of collaboration that enhance student learning.

Panelists will discuss their perspectives on the processes and impact after their first year of building a culture of learning in schools. The PLC at Work process is designed to increase teacher collaboration and collective responsibility for student learning, establish a schoolwide focus on learning at high levels and create a results orientation using evidence of student learning. Implementation of the PLC at Work process occurred in the context of Arkansas’ culturally diverse rural, suburban and urban schools.

Attendees of the panel will be given time to ask questions of the panelists at the end of the discussion. More information about the PLC at Work process is available at www.AllThingsPLC.info.
