Sandi Kitts
Sandi Kitts, PhD, is the superintendent of curriculum and learning for the Prairie South School Division in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. She has served as a teacher and school administrator for three decades. Known for her drive to improve learning and teaching, Dr. Kitts has experience in many areas related to public school education. Most recently, her focus has been on establishing effective protocols to improve classroom formative assessment and instruction. Dr. Kitts’ presentations aim to narrow the knowing-doing gap by using research to guide changes in classroom practice. She believes that students play a critical and, as yet, largely underutilized role in shaping classroom learning.
Dr. Kitts believes that we are all learners and leaders. As a result, her workshops are hands-on and very interactive in the quest to construct increased understanding together.
Dr. Kitts completed a doctorate in school leadership at the University of Oregon, where she was advised by Dr. Robert Sylwester, a renowned educator and expert on brain research and learning. Her studies addressed instructional leadership with school principals.
