Lyndsi Smith, PhD, has served the education community for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. Dr. Smith has been a classroom teacher, school-based literacy coach, district-level literacy coach, assistant principal, and principal. Throughout these experiences, Dr. Smith has delivered professional learning workshops, provided in-classroom instructional support, and presented at local, state, and national conferences. Dr. Smith also taught reading methods courses as an adjunct professor.

Dr. Smith served on the board of the Kokomo Area Literacy Association (KALA) and the Indiana State Literacy Association (ISLA) in a variety of capacities including serving as president of both organizations. She received the Indiana Reading Hall of Fame award for ISLA, an association under the International Literacy Association umbrella. Dr. Smith is a member of the International Literacy Association, Indiana Association of School Principals, and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

While literacy is a passion, Dr. Smith has presented on other components of education, including how to create strong systems that facilitate student growth, identifying priority standards, developing assessments that inform instructional decisions, and utilizing professional learning communities to advance student learning. In addition, Dr. Smith has provided professional learning sessions aimed at understanding how trauma can impact student learning, student engagement, utilizing technology, and instructional strategies.

Dr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree through Olivet Nazarene University, a master’s degree through Indiana Wesleyan University, and a doctorate from Indiana State University in educational leadership, where she focused on educator retention.
