Karin K. Hess, EdD, the creator of the Hess Cognitive Rigor Matrices, is an internationally recognized speaker and leader in developing practical approaches for using cognitive rigor and learning progressions in assessments. Since 1998, Karin has been working in schools as an elementary and middle school principal, district curriculum director, and classroom teacher.

Stephanie Stollar, PhD, is passionate about using multitiered systems of supports as the framework for helping all students become skilled readers. Dr. Stollar advises the next generation of policy leaders in her role as an assistant professor at Mount St. Joseph University.

Sarah Brown, PhD, has held roles such as a professional learning leader in the ed tech assessment industry, bureau chief leading special education and multitiered system of supports implementation for the state of Iowa, district special education director, professional learning administrator, and school psychologist.
