Many of the concerns that educators have about student AI use involve students misrepresenting their learning and mastery by having these tools do work for them. In the Solution Tree Master Class: Educator AI, Paul explores ways that teachers can build classroom structures and culture that promote the ethical use of AI. As with any other critical skill, teachers need to become AI literate themselves and then guide students through the ways that generative AI tools can help them learn better, instead of taking them out of the learning process.

Kelli Bateman is an educator with 25 years of experience as a teacher, instructional coach, speaker, and team leader. She creates inspiring learning programs and is passionate about standards-based grading and collaborative assessment—the kind that leads to successful implementations despite resistance.

This workshop is focused on the practices and processes that will modernize grading and reporting systems to be more aligned to our standards-based instructional paradigm.

Rea Smith is an elementary mathematics and science curriculum specialist in northwestern Arkansas. She passionately supports the work of professional learning communities with a focus on common assessments to improve student and teacher learning.

Given the complexity of today’s educational landscape, it might feel as if we have to choose between assessing our students or supporting their social-emotional wellness. However, when we assess with intention and care, and use the results to support intellectual needs while also attending to social and emotional needs, we don’t have to choose!
