In her role as an instructional coach at North Scott Community School District in Iowa, Megan Knight, PhD, collaborated with junior and senior high school leaders to create a comprehensive curriculum, ensuring a meaningful learning experience for all students through standards-based instruction, assessment and grading practices. Dr. Knight also serves as an adjunct instructor for the University of Northern Iowa and Upper Iowa University, where she guides veteran and preservice teachers to improve their leadership skills, instruction, and assessment and grading practices.

Previously, Dr. Knight was a content leader, junior high English language arts teacher, high school special education teacher, and reading specialist. She is passionate about researching, implementing, and empowering others to refine practices in effective feedback, student engagement, and classroom assessment and grading.

Dr. Knight is a member of the ASCD and has received distinguished research awards from the Iowa Educational Research & Evaluation Association for her empirical research in the area of standards-based grading. She has presented empirical research and practitioner-focused professional learning at state and regional assessment and grading conferences. Her writing has been published in journals such as the NASSP Bulletin, The Journal of Educational Leadership in Action, and ASCD Express.

Dr. Knight earned her doctorate in educational leadership and a master’s degree in teacher effectiveness and professional development, both from Drake University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education and English from Loras College. She is currently pursuing a second master's degree in educational administration and a principal endorsement degree through Northwestern College.
