Kristi Mixdorf

Kristi Mixdorf is a motivated and dedicated educator with extensive experience in educational leadership. As the principal at Central Elementary in the North Polk School District, Kristi has a proven track record of successfully implementing innovative teaching methods, fostering a positive school culture, and promoting academic excellence. As a building leader, she directed culture and climate initiatives, developed and executed school improvement plans, and led the implementation of the PLC process, resulting in her school becoming a Model PLC at Work® school.

Committed to creating inclusive learning environments, Kristi excels in collaborating with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and student success. She has over 27 years of experience in public education as a teacher, instructional coach, adjunct professor, principal, and district office administrator. Kristi enjoys working with teams nationwide to enhance professional learning community (PLC) practices and has a passion for coaching principals and guiding leadership teams in data-driven decision-making for academic growth.

Kristi received her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education. She later received a master’s degree in educational leadership and PK–12 principal/special education supervisor from Viterbo University, where she also served as an adjunct professor. Kristi is highly engaged in her own professional growth and the development of others in the field.

Throughout Kristi’s career, she has been involved in professional organizations such as the School Administrators of Iowa (SAI) and the International Reading Association (IRA). Trained in innovative methodologies, she has presented at national conferences, including the National Staff Development Council and the Iowa Association of School Boards Convention. Eager to make a positive impact, Kristi leverages her leadership, dedication to student success, and passion for inclusive learning, thriving in collaboration with educators to ensure all students achieve high levels.
