Maria N. Trejo

Maria N. Trejo, EdD, is a consultant who provides training, coaching, and instructional leadership support. She also designs professional development events, webinars, and international teacher exchanges.

Dr. Trejo began her professional career as an elementary school teacher. She later taught high school students and prepared teacher candidates at the University of the Pacific and Washington State University. During her 32-year tenure as consultant and administrator with the California State Department of Education, Dr. Trejo implemented state policies; disbursed funds to improve curriculum and instructional practices; and administered programs to support underprivileged children, underperforming populations, and English learners. She also developed policies, examinations, and general requirements for state teacher certifications.

Dr. Trejo has participated in several state and national organizations, commissions, boards, and task forces, including the Commission on Teacher Credentialing/Bilingual Assessor Agencies; National Interstate Migrant Educational Council; California County State Steering Committee of Assistant Superintendents of Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development; National Council of States on Inservice Education; and an expert panel for Education.com.

She earned an EdD from the University of the Pacific.
