Michael Pedrotty is the principal of Elm Grove Middle School in Bossier City, Louisiana, and is a firm believer in the power and efficacy of the professional learning community process, having served as the instructional coach at Benton Middle School when it became the very first Model Professional Learning Community at Work® school in the state of Louisiana.

Michael Pedrotty

Michael Pedrotty is the proud principal of Elm Grove Middle School in Bossier City, Louisiana. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Minnesota and master’s degrees in history and educational leadership from the University of Illinois and the American College of Education, respectively.

Michael was an award-winning instructor, teacher, and department chair during his twelve years in collegiate, high school, and middle school classrooms. During his graduate studies at the University of Illinois, he was named on three occasions to the university’s list of excellent and outstanding instructors. In his public school career, he was named Airline High School’s Teacher of the Year, Bossier Parish High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year, American Legion District Educator of the Year, and the National History Bowl’s National Coach of the Year. He served as the instructional coach at Benton Middle School when it became the very first Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® school in the state of Louisiana. He then moved to Haughton Middle School as an assistant principal and was later named principal of Elm Grove Middle School in 2021.

Michael is a firm believer in the power and efficacy of the professional learning community process. He has built the systems and structures necessary for this approach—as well as commitment to the approach—everywhere he has served as an instructional leader. He has also served as a consultant with Solution Tree since 2018, helping schools and districts across the country on their PLC journeys.
