Lindsey Matkin is the principal at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School in Poudre School District, Fort Collins, Colorado. Lindsey has served as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, grade level leader, academic dean, assistant principal, and Colorado State University Fellow.

Lindsey has 20 years of educational experience. She started her journey in education as a classroom Spanish teacher in an International Baccalaureate middle school. Several years later, Lindsey had the opportunity to be part of the staff who opened Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School, a National Blue Ribbon and National Professional Learning Community model school. After 14 years of teaching Spanish and serving as department leader, she stepped out of the classroom to serve as the academic dean. Lindsey continued with her passion for leadership and joined the administrative team at Preston STEM Middle School as an assistant principal prior to leading Kinard as principal.

She has played key roles in the PLC work in each of the schools she has served. As a teacher she was a part of a highly effective team, she coached teams in her role as an academic dean, and collaborates with highly effective teams as a building leader.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish, master’s in education and human resource studies, and principal licensure at Colorado State University.
