Chris Beingessner

Chris Beingessner is deputy principal of the middle school at Singapore American School (SAS). Throughout the past 17 years, he has held numerous K–12 teaching and school leadership roles. Prior to working at SAS, Chris was a vice principal in Saskatchewan, Canada. He began his career teaching middle school in small towns around Saskatchewan. His first foray into international teaching was serving as a middle school teacher and coordinator at NISC in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Chris’s thesis, entitled “Looking In, Looking Out: A Critical Narrative of the Dinner Theatre Project,” was an examination of a large-scale interdisciplinary project. He was the recipient of the J. Orrison Burgess Graduate Scholarship in Education Award (2010) from the University of Regina for his work on this thesis. He also won the Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Award for Learning and the Arts (2009) for his work with at-risk youth on interdisciplinary project-based learning. The Saskatchewan Teachers of English Language Arts awarded him the Gary Hyland Award for Excellence in the Teaching of English Language Arts in First 10 Years in 2008. He also published a short story in the anthology Country Roads: Memoirs from Rural Canada (2010).

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in English and mathematics education and a master’s degree in educational curriculum and instruction from the University of Regina.
