Cory Bennett

Cory A. Bennett is a passionate educator who supports teachers and teacher leaders to create learning-centered experiences for all students. He specializes in education as a professor and global consultant, with a focus on enhancing mathematical discourse, creating classroom environments conducive to reasoning, and ensuring coherence among curricula, assessments, and instructional methods. Before his current roles, he taught secondary mathematics and served as both a mathematics instructional coach and a district-level instructional coach in culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Hawaii. He holds dual certification to teach elementary K-8 and secondary 6-12 mathematics, is a National Board Certified Teacher, and is certified in K-12 administration as well as instructional coaching.

Dr. Bennett was recognized as an Outstanding Researcher at Idaho State University and was awarded the Faculty Excellence award in the College of Education at Idaho State University. Additionally, he was an Association for the Advancement of International Education Fellow and has received conference awards for best papers at multiple international conferences. Likewise, Dr. Bennett has published dozens of journals, book chapters, and articles around teaching and learning, and has over 100 presentations at international and national conferences. Dr. Bennett holds a PhD from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a focus in curriculum and instruction in mathematics education. He earned his master’s degree in education with a focus on curriculum studies and a concentration in middle level/adolescent education from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and secondary mathematics from Western Washington University.
