Daman Harris

Dr. Daman Harris is a dedicated educator, researcher, and leader committed to advancing equity and excellence in education. He currently serves as the senior manager of educator advancement & IHE partnerships for a Mid-Atlantic school district, where he leads initiatives to strengthen educator pipelines and professional learning. With a career spanning almost 30 years, Dr. Harris has held roles as a principal, building-level coach, district-level coach, and adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, McDaniel College, and the University of Maryland Global Campus, shaping future educators and fostering inclusive learning environments.

Dr. Harris is widely recognized for his work in antiracist teaching, teacher retention, and leadership development. His recent publications include The Antiracist School Leader, peer-reviewed research in the Journal of Multicultural Education, and contributions to Education Week and Educational Leadership. He co-founded the Building Our Network of Diversity (BOND) Project, a nationally recognized nonprofit focused on supporting male educators of color.

Dr. Harris has been honored for his contributions to education through numerous leadership appointments and recognition for his research on equity and inclusive practices. He has also contributed to policy development and workforce monitoring initiatives in Maryland, helping shape the future of public education. As a thought leader, he continues to develop professional learning strategies that empower educators and create inclusive school communities.

Dr. Harris earned his doctorate in education policy from the University of Maryland, specializing in family and community partnerships. He also holds a master’s degree in education (reading) from Goucher College and a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Delaware. He holds professional certifications as a superintendent, administrator, and reading specialist.
