Debora Bamforth, an educational speaker, has more than 40 years of experience in education. She served as principal of the D. J. Bakie School in New Hampshire and also worked in the Timberlane District, where she designed and implemented an enrichment program for a school of nearly 1,200 students before assuming the administrative role of curriculum coordinator.
Debora Bamforth, an educational speaker, has more than 40 years of experience in education. She served as principal of the D. J. Bakie School in New Hampshire and also worked in the Timberlane District, where she designed and implemented an enrichment program for a school of nearly 1,200 students before assuming the administrative role of curriculum coordinator. Debora served as a classroom teacher, as well as a teacher of the gifted and talented for more than 20 years. Currently, Debora works with schools across the country as they develop high-performing collaborative teams designed to improve student learning. She also serves education in the state of New Hampshire by mentoring new principals.
During her tenure as principal of the D. J. Bakie School, Debora led the school’s transformation from a traditional learning model to one that is personalized, competency based, and driven by student evidence. Along with building-based leadership, Debora designed an intervention program called WIN, created high-functioning professional learning communities, and guided staff as they developed and implemented performance assessments.
As one of two finalists for the 2014 Principal of the Year, Debora was presented with the 2014 Role Model Award. She was selected for the Chinese Cultural Exchange Program, traveling to China in April 2012 to visit schools in Beijing, Tong Ling, and Shanghai. Debora has twice been nominated for the Disney American Teacher Award. In 1998, she received the COOL Award for Outstanding Educators and was a recipient of a Fulbright Memorial Scholarship that allowed her to study education in Japan. She is the co-creator of the Writer’s Academy Summer Institute at the University of New Hampshire and was a co-facilitator for the Seacoast Principals group that met monthly. She is an active participant in NAESP, NHASP, and ASCD.
Debora graduated from Rivier College with a master of education degree in administration and holds an undergraduate degree from Salem State College.
