Aisha Lynn Thomas
Aisha Lynn Thomas is the principal of Zach Elementary in Fort Collins, Colorado. In her 17-year career as an educator, she has also served as a middle school office manager, school counselor, district lead secondary school counselor, and assistant principal.
Aisha has worked with a new staff to build the culture and climate of a brand-new school, as well as within an existing school culture to restructure the organization toward a highly effective, collaborative, and safe environment.
Under her leadership, Zach Elementary improved in state performance rankings from eighty-ninth to second, and the school now ranks within the top 3 percent of the state’s elementary schools for both academic achievement and academic growth. Zach Elementary holds the 2018 National Blue Ribbon Award and is also a PLC at Work® Model School.
Aisha’s awards include the 2018 Terrel H. Bell Outstanding School Leadership Award from the US Department of Education and the 2018 Special Friend Award from Colorado State University’s Black/African-American Cultural Center. In addition to being a published author and Solution Tree associate, Aisha is a nationally board-certified counselor and contributes to Northern Colorado’s Mom’s Blog. She is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the International Women’s Leadership Association.
She earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Colorado State University.
