Amanda Hathhorn

Amanda Hathhorn, district math specialist and mentor for the Aspiring Instructional Coaching Academy at Pasadena ISD, has over 20 years of experience in education. Her expertise lies in training teachers to ensure all students receive high-quality instruction. Notably, she trained school leaders and played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work® process, subsequently earning a Model PLC at Work school distinction at V. W. Miller Intermediate.

Amanda plays an integral role in training teachers to unpack standards as well as assessment writing and instructional strategies across the district at the middle and high school levels. She led the way to making several adjustments at Miller Intermediate to ensure they maintained fidelity to the PLC process and helped refine and create new processes—after-school team-lead meetings, data tools for students, data tools for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students to support in-school intervention time—that proved to be lifesavers. She also continued the process of team-created common formative assessments. Amanda has been the leader of multiple PLC teams that implemented and improved their PLC process. She’s led teams that were ranked bottom in the district to first place rankings.

Amanda graduated from University of Houston-Clear Lake with a bachelors in education, specializing in mathematics. She earned her masters in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
