Floyd Gómez-Starnes

Floyd Gómez-Starnes is an educational speaker providing training in literacy, dual language education, and school improvement. Floyd has worked for over 30 years in education, serving as an ESL teacher, a first-grade teacher, staff development coach, reading intervention specialist, and literacy trainer. For eight years, he served as principal of Kemp Mill Elementary, a dual language school in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Floyd is passionate about bringing the highest quality teaching and learning to all students, especially those in communities that struggle economically and that are blessed with rich diversity of culture and language. He has been honored to work with collaborative teams of dedicated educators to build assessment, planning, and instructional systems that have revitalized and transformed learning for students.

Floyd earned his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from George Washington University in and his master’s in TESOL from Boston University.
