Gearl Loden is the superintendent of Nixa Public Schools. With over 30 years of experience, his career spans roles as superintendent, HR director, principal (elementary and secondary), teacher, coach, and professor in rural, urban, and suburban districts worldwide. His expertise in growing and developing leaders has a positive impact on improving the academic achievement of students through his focused work with professional learning communities.
Under Dr. Loden’ leadership, Nixa Public Schools has been recognized as a Model PLC at Work® district and includes multiple Model PLC at Work® schools. The district's steadfast commitment to fully implementing professional learning communities has revolutionized its approach to collaboration, nurturing a culture of deeper learning and professional growth. This dedication has led to high student achievement, with the district earning two National Blue Ribbon School awards, being ranked 27th among high schools in Missouri by U.S. News, and placed in the top 4% by the Missouri Department of Education.
Dr. Loden completed his bachelor's degree in education from Delta State University. He went on to earn his master's degree in education leadership from the University of Mississippi, another master's degree in business administration from Western Governors University, and his PhD in education leadership from the University of Mississippi.
