Gloria L. Canada, EdD, is the founder of Circles of Purpose, an educational consulting company whose work focuses primarily on school leadership, family engagement, and poverty awareness. Her determination and commitment to improving schools that respond to students’ needs, support acceptance for all, and establish a belief in maintaining high expectations have resulted in substantial improvement on various campuses.

Dr. Canada is also an adjunct professor for the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she teaches graduate courses in educational administration and school leadership.

Dr. Canada has been an educator since 1983. Dr. Canada spent twelve years as a successful Title I principal in San Antonio, where she led the campus to consistently reach a Recognized status by the Texas Educational Agency. She also served as a professional service provider, working closely with principals of struggling campuses in the state of Texas. Her educational experiences have provided her with a strong background in working with predominantly low-income schools with diverse populations. Prior to becoming a school administrator, she spent ten years as a classroom teacher.

Dr. Canada is the author of a children’s book, My Hero Doesn’t Wear a Cape, which captures the essence of her childhood growing up in a military family. She has discussed this book and presented it to children at various schools and at a conference of counselors, and she was invited by the Gold Star Families organization (for families who have lost a parent, spouse, or child to war) to share a reading of her book at one of their annual gatherings.

Dr. Canada received a bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Mary Hardin Baylor, a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
