Hannah Polk

Hannah Polk, EdD, serves as a principal in a large metropolitan school district in Georgia. A native South Carolinian, Dr. Polk has been serving schools at both the middle and high school levels for 17 years. Dr. Polk has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in a variety of secondary school settings and communities.

Under her leadership, Dr. Polk’s schools have been recognized by Georgia’s Office of Student Achievement as Schools of Excellence. Additionally, she currently serves as the principal of the first school in her county to earn the prestigious recognition of being a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® school.

Dr. Polk earned a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2007 from the University of South Carolina and completed her master’s degree in education from Columbia College the following year. In 2016, Dr. Polk earned her specialist degree in educational leadership from Berry College and graduated in 2019 with a doctorate in educational leadership from the American College of Education. Her dissertation topic, “Qualitative Study Examining Contributing Factors to a Quality First-Year Teaching Experience," is not only timely but also remains promising that the research findings will have a positive impact on first-year teacher retention. Dr. Polk serves on the advisory board for the American College of Education and is a member of the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals.
