Heidi Eisenreich, PhD, is an assistant professor of mathematics education at Georgia Southern University. She currently works with K–8 preservice teachers to help deepen their conceptual understanding of mathematics content.

Heidi Eisenreich

Heidi Eisenreich, PhD, is an assistant professor of mathematics education at Georgia Southern University. Previously, she taught high school– and college-level mathematics courses. She currently works with K–8 preservice teachers to help deepen their conceptual understanding of mathematics content.

Dr. Eisenreich has presented at the state, regional, and national levels. She was selected as the 2019–2020 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Fellow by Georgia Southern University’s Center for Teaching Excellence to continue her work on teaching preservice teachers about growth mindset and how it can affect their learning. She is a member of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Dr. Eisenreich is also the secretary for the Georgia affiliate of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.

She received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, with a minor in 6–12 education, from Carroll University. Dr. Eisenreich also earned a master’s degree in education from Cardinal Stritch University, a master’s degree in mathematics from Jacksonville University, and a doctoral degree in mathematics education from the University of Central Florida.

Her research includes helping teachers build conceptual understanding of mathematics through tasks, oral and written discourse, and identifying student errors; working with preservice teachers to present at the state mathematics conference to share concepts they have learned with current teachers; and helping parents make sense of strategies their children are learning in elementary mathematics classrooms.
